Have a Fabulous Weekend

Pin It Now!
I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend.  I sure am!

I hit up JoAnn's Fabrics for their huge sale yesterday with some of my best girlfriends.  I scored some awesome clearance fabrics for only $1.50 a yard.  Yahoo!

I've also been sewing and watching Lost.  I have Netflix on my Wii so am able to watch them all online.  After all the hype from the finale I decided to give it a try.  I'm on the first season and I think I'm addicted.  I may need to check into Lost Watchers Anonymous.

I love how area rugs can really spice up a room.

They can add so much to a simple room, and really give it that added "finished" feel.

I know when I'm decorating, an area rug can really add that much needed POP to a room.

Just Area Rugs has hundreds of traditional and contemporary area rugs.

Their selection is amazing, plue every rug ships for Free!

Estate Sale Score!

Pin It Now! Mr. Crafty and I daydream about the houses in our neighborhood.  We currently live in a tiny, I mean teeny tiny, condo.  The homes that surround our complex are simply amazing.  They are large, spacious, but still modestly-sized.  They have shutters and big front yards, colorful front doors and big garages.  Everything we wish of our dream home.

We love to walk the dogs down that street and dream of what it would be like to own one of those homes and fill it with our favorite things.

So you can just imagine my surprise when I saw that one of them was open for an estate sale!  On Sunday, after making my weekly trip to JoAnn's I stopped in to check out the house, and the goods of course.

The owner of the home had a large sewing room with a walk-in closet filled with fabrics and about 100 patterns from 1970 or older.  Most of her fabrics were polyester blends, um, not really my style, but I did manage to score some broadcloth and interfacing for just pennies.

She also had a cute little glass jar for notions, which I swooped up and
quickly filled with my favorite colored buttons.

In their large formal dining room sat this beautiful candleabra.  I couldn't believe that with all the people there no one grabbed, so I quickly snuck it in my basket.

This little darling has a date with some spray paint in it's near future.

I also managed to get a set of six lemon yellow cloth dinner napkins and a *new* stainless steel tea kettle.  Success!

New {Big} Project Photos

Pin It Now! We bought a 1971 Volkswagen Bus Westfalia!  We are so excited to take on this project together as a couple.  We've been wanting a project to work on - something we can do together.  This definitely fits the bill.

This is the first picture of her the day after we brought her home.
She's really dirty and in need of some love.
But she drives like an absolute dream and has SO much potential!

All Jerry Garcia and peace sign stickers are still intact. Those will be peeled off soon. :)
However, this peace sign came with the Bus and it will be staying.

We have some big restoration projects ahead of us.  Our plan is to restore this Bus to it's original condition a la 1971.

It's a dark green color, so we'll be painting the bottom a fresh coat of green paint and the top a creamy vanilla-esque or white color.   This is still a decision Mr. Crafty and I have yet to agree on.  The back seats have been recently reupholstered, so we will be replacing the front seats and updating the seat belts.

Pin It Now!
A new (to us) 'project' came home to the Crafty house tonight.

It's a doozie!  But it sure will be a lot of fun to work on with Mr. Crafty as our new family project.

I'll post pictures tomorrow!

May Goals

Pin It Now! I'm a little late - well, okay maybe four days! - but I've decided to start tracking my goals for each month. My head is always full of ideas and goals, but I'm not so great about actually writing them down and figuring out a way to best accomplish them.

So hopefully I'll be able to keep myself accountable - along with your help - and really get moving this month.

1.  Work out {at least} four days a week

2.  Drink more water every day!

3.  Get my Etsy Shop up and running

4.  Blog at least 3 times a week

5.  Lose 10 more pounds

Sewing Fiend

Pin It Now!

I am a sewing addict!  I would sew 24 hours a day if I could.          I love being able to think up an idea, find the perfect fabric and create something beautiful.

After my original machine broke, I purchased a new machine in February and I've been taking classes with my lovely friend Jenny, to learn some new techniques.

But you want to know what my favorite part of sewing is?  The fabric!  I spend countless hours perusing the aisles of my local fabric stores in search of the perfect designs and coordinating prints.  I find awesome deals and buy a little here, a little there and I have accumulated quite the stash of fabulous fabrics.

Spice Berry Cottage is an Etsy Shop I can spend hours looking at.  They sell designers such as Amy Butler, Japanese Imports, Alexander Henry and Michael Miller.  What I especially love is that they sell packs of half yards of great coordinating fabrics!  Their prices are great and I love their half yard bundles.

So you can only imagine my excitement when I saw they were offering and 8 design half yard set on one of my favorite blog ~ Everything Etsy!  Squee!

Good Luck!

I Love Liam

Pin It Now! There are times in everyone's life when we feel lucky, and no matter what is currently going on in life you know that things will get better.  It's hard for me, personally, to not get down about my husband not having a job and not having the comfort of his income anymore.

But reading a story such as Liam's really puts things into perspective.  It turns those small, or even not-so-small, life potholes into small divets that are easy to overcome.   Liam has a neuromuscular disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2.  You can read more about Liam's life and family in his mother's blog

Reading Liam's story I was overcome with hope and empathy for this amazing little boy and his loving family.  Once I found out they are from my city I instantly became drawn to read more.

I urge you to read Liam's story.  His mother's graciousness will inspire you.

Liam's family is raising money for Liam's new bathroom that will be more suitable to his Snapdragon mobility chair.  If you are willing to give, or donate an item to Liam's Super Giveaway I know they would more than appreciate it!

If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere. ~Frank A. Clark
