So long 2010...

Pin It Now!

I couldn't be more ready for 2011!

2010 has not been the best of years for me, so here's hoping 2011 will be a little gentler.  :)

I'm trying to be more diligent about goal-setting, so without further ado, here are my New Year's resolutions.

1.  Stop procrastinating.  I have always been a procrastinator and at the age of 27 I really should stop doing that now, don't you think?

2.  Be more punctual.  See #1 for more explanation.  ;)

3.  Lose 50 lbs.  Yikes!  This is a big one.  That number seems so daunting, but I'm already down 5 lbs. within the last few weeks and I'm working my way there, slowly but surely.  I just joined a local yoga studio so I'm hoping to take Bikram yoga at least twice a week, along with my regular gym.

4.  Sew more!  I have some beautiful projects that I've started, but have yet to finish.  I hope to get several things up on my Etsy page within the next few weeks.

Here's to the New Year!
May yours be filled with happiness and love.

Quote of the Day

Pin It Now!
We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it's another to think that yours is the only path.

Felt Flower Holiday Wreath Tutorial

Pin It Now!

I absolutely loved this project.    I chose to do this in a deep red to be festive, but this would look great in all different colors to match the season or your decor.  Enjoy!

You'll need:
1/2 yard of 36"wide felt - cut into about 3"x 3"squares
Vine wreath
Hot Glue (lots and lots of it)

{Please excuse my ugly craft chair  :) }

Cut the felt into 3" by 3"squares.  A half yard will make about 60 or so squares.

Start at the edge and cut a swirl pattern into each square.

From the middle of the swirl, roll up the felt to create a flower shape.  The looser you roll it the larger it will be.  I chose to roll them rather tightly for a more "closed flower"look, but you can do this part however you'd like.

Dab a little hot glue on the flower to close it, so it holds together and doesn't unravel.

Arrange the flowers and glue onto the wreath.  I wanted a bit of vine to show through, so I centered the two rows of flowers on the wreath so it wasn't completely covered.

Once the flowers and glued on you can trim the sharp corners of the felt.  I chose not to to give it a little bit of a modern look.

Voila!  So easy and adorable.

Whooga!

Pin It Now! I have a confession...

I like Uggs.  Like, I really really like them.  I always thought my sister was ridiculous for wearing them six months out of the year in Southern California.  Until she had me try them on.  At that moment I fell in love with the cushiony-softness.  Yep.

I live in Oregon, where it can get really cold.  Over the last few weeks we've had temperatures in the teens.  Yikes!  You can bet I was wishing I had on some of these bad boys to warm my popsicle-toes.

I really love this tan color...

Don't they just make your cold feel happy, too?  Well, I have a surprise for you!

If you go to http://www.whooga-eu.co.uk/ you can get your very own pair of Ugg Boots!!   Use coupon code 1156CRAFTY for a special 10% discount for my readers!  How awesome is that?

On My Christmas List This Year...

Pin It Now! It seems like just yesterday I created my Christmas List for last year.  Time really does fly when you're having fun!

After racking my brain, I honestly could only think of one thing that I actually *need*.  Of course, there's always things I want, but only this one thing I need.

I've always had crazy hair.  Some of it's curly, some of it's straight, and it won't grow.  So, I have short hair that has a mind of it's own.  My favorite tool?  A flat iron!  And now it's time to step it up.  I've been using the cheapy drug store ones, but it's time to finally have the straight hair I covet.

I found this little guy and I'm smitten!

This is the ghd hair straightener.  Pretty, yes?

Apparently there is quite a black market for these little guys.  {Who would have thought?}  But the original is MUCH better, and safer!, than the fakes.  Before you invest in a new best friend flat iron be sure to check the website for ghd.

As someone with wild locks I can tell you that I've spent many hours in the bathroom stressing over my hair.  {Well, not hours, but you know what I mean!}  I'm a perfectionist like that.

I'm a pretty casual dresser most days, but I can guarantee you my blonde hair is always looking good.  :)

Social Network

Pin It Now!

Last night Mr. Crafty and I went to see Social Network.  He knows how much I am addicted to like Facebook and social networking, so we opted to see this movie.

We almost never go to the movies, thank you Netflix, so we made a date out of it. We went our favorite burger place and then to the theater.

Mr. Crafty has never had a Facebook account, and still has no idea what Twitter is, but he was still pretty impressed with this movie.  Justin Timberlake and Jesse Eisenberg were awesome.  The story behind Facebook is quite intriguing, and this movie really made you feel for the struggle behind the website and what actually happened to bring about the site we all (well, almost all) know and love.

Speaking of Facebook, you can now find Ruby Chic's N E W Facebook page HERE, or by clicking the button at the top of my right sidebar.

Will you come be my friend?
